“Atypical” terrorism in the ethno-confessional conflict in Iraq (on an example of the terrorist attack in Khan Bani Saad)

The article is devoted to the investigation of the problem of terrorist violence committed on religious grounds in the context of the ethno-confessional conflict in Iraq. At the center of research attention is a phenomenon such as the terrorism of «neo-Shiite» extremist groups. The analysis of the problem is conducted on the example of a specific situation - the terrorist attack in the Iraqi city of Khan Bani Saad. For various reasons, the phenomenon of «neo-Shiite» terrorism, as a rule, remains beyond the scope of interest of Russian experts. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to try to make a feasible contribution to the formation and development of the problem field of this scientific discourse.
