Interfaith Relation Issues in Syria
Religiia i obshchestvo na Vostoke, Issue I (2017), p. 126-180.
The religious and confessional dimension of the Syrian crisis raises questions that in the eyes of many today seem to be determining not only for Syria, but for the region as a whole. The inflamed multilateral opposition seemed to have exacerbate the relationship between the numerous religious communities to the extreme and gave rise to new, as it is believed, fault lines in Syrian society. In fact, the current problems are far from new, they are strikingly reminiscent of the Islamist conflict, who with decades and with arms in the hands challenged the secular nature of state power, and the regime, which with its hard actions tried to prevent a change in the confessional balance in society and strengthen the influence of fundamentalists on public administration. Shifts caused by the war are not critical for the Syrian society and do not imply a new radical administrative and territorial redevelopment of the region.
